As we go about our busy lives, it's difficult to keep everyone informed! So check in here for the latest updates on the Freeman Family (Jeff, Ashlee, Misty, Elmer Fud, Lillee Mae, and Aiden Michael!)
Only 50 days to go from today... We continued our birthing classes this week (cancelled last week because of snow). This session included much information!!! We learned about induction, the stages of labor and what we may feel like emotionally during the stages, and some more breathing techniques for the different stages of labor. Then we got to watch this lovely video from the 80s (seriously, the baby born in it has to be as old as I am by now!!!) of a birth! I was truly fascinated by this video! And all things considered, Jeff held himself together quite well! The first shot of where the baby comes out kind of freaked him out a bit, but he pulled himself together and got over it ;-) We also learned about all the different safety features of the birthing center. Pretty cool stuff!!! In our class we were talking about getting everything ready for the babies and how much everyone still had to do. When I stated that we were done with the nursery, everyone said, "How far along are you?" and I said, "32 weeks" and they were like, "Geeeez! You must have been born in nesting mode!" Lol. I never thought of it that way, but I believe I was! Our last class is next Wednesday! This is the one we have been SOOO looking forward to for some time now - the tour of the birthing center!!!! I had a doctor's appointment on Monday! It went excellently, as expected :-) He said I am good and healthy and so is Aiden! Aiden is head-down again, and probably won't turn breach again because his head is so low and he's quite crammed (I think he's gonna be a big boy!) Other great news - Jeff asked the doctor at what age it would be safe for Aiden to have his first boat ride. And the the answer - 6 weeks!!!! WOOHOO! We were planning on waiting til Mid-June or beginning of July anyway just so we knew it would be warm enough, so this is excellent! Now we get to go pick out an adorable little life-jacket for him! The doctor said to make sure to get one with a handle on the back in case he does fall in the water. Our dog's life jacket has that, too :-) Not that we could pick a 30 pound Pug made of lead out of the water with a handle, but whatever! It's cute, nonetheless! Our list of things to get for Aiden is now down to 6 measley items! FINALLY!!! All we still need is the infant car seat, and extra base, cradle sheets, Halo Sleep Sacks, a clothes hamper, and a swinging gate! |
Aiden's great, I'm great, life's... great! It was a rough week with having my uncle's funeral, but we made it through. Now tonight (if the snow doesn't keep us away) we have to go to Jeff's aunt's visitation. Then Tuesday my aunt goes in for her surgery to remove her tumor. Lots of sad news in the family lately, but nothing God can't handle, that's for sure! My sister-in-law is going to be having my niece/nephew any time now!!! I can't wait to meet him/her! I just realized that I only have 6 more doctor's appointments until Aiden's due date!!! WOW! 65 days until his due date doesn't seem like much! I was convinced that the last 10 weeks was going to drag on and on because it's just a waiting game now that everything is ready. But boy was I wrong!! This past week has completely flown by, and here we are, almost to 31 weeks... only 6 short weeks from being term (which will be March 21st). We started our birthing classes this past Wednesday. There are 6 couples in the class - although one girl is there with her mom because her husband is in the Navy and is away right now. The instructor has been a nurse at our hospital for 27 years, and she was the L&D nurse for the girl's mom when she gave birth to her 3 kids! So cool! But the class was very informative so far! We learned about dilation, effacement, stations, and then went over some breathing and relaxation techniques. Next week we get to learn about induction, and watch a video on delivery. Then, the third and final class she said we learn about c-sections and we get a tour of the Birthing Center! I just want to skip to the tour and be done! Although, I think it's *kind of* important to learn how to give birth too ;-) |
![]() Anyway, my mom took this picture of my sister-in-law and I at my baby shower on Saturday. I was 29 weeks and 6 days pregnant and she was 36 weeks and 1 days pregnant that day (but she could have her baby any day because she is 1.5cm dialated, baby's head down, and she's having contractions!!!) Saturday, February 13, 2010 is my fourth and final baby shower! I know it will be a blast because it's being thrown by my church, and those church ladies can get a little crazy ;-) P.S. I look TERRIBLE in this picture - pale, baggy eyes, etc. and I completely forgot to put jewelry on that day! Ugh.... oh well, the pic is still cute! |
1/26/2010 - I had a doctor's appointment. Just a regular check-up to hear Aiden's heartbeat and measure my stomach. All was well and Aiden was great! The doctor assured me that the back and pelvic pain I have been feeling is normal, and to try a chiropractor or massage if it gets worse... we'll see... Nursery News - IT'S DONE!!!!!!!! All of the painting was complete Monday night, and we now have a bookshelf and dresser and crib and glider and everything is just perfect! I LOVE it! (I hope Aiden's does too!) Baby Shower News - I had my second baby shower on Sunday this past weekend. We got SO many nice things! I do have to say, though, that my favorite gift came from Jeff's grandma, grandpa, aunts and uncles and cousins... they gave us money to start a college fund for Aiden! How thoughtful!!! I mean, all of the gifts are nice, but nothing will go further than an education, and having a nice starting point for which to open his savings account is going to be so nice! I have another baby shower this weekend on Saturday at my aunt's house. Then my last one is on Feb. 13th! I have definitely noticed an increase in the strength of Aiden's movements this week, as well as what times he is awake each day. He wakes up for the first time around 6am, when I am getting out of bed. Then again around 7:45am when I am settling in at work. Then again after lunch, and then periodically throughout the afternoon I feel him wiggle, but not really kick a whole lot, until I lay down at night to go to bed, which is when he decides it's time to wake up! I have also been able to see his movements from the outside more and more now! My stomach will do a little dance randomly. It's so fun to watch! My weight gain is still... okay... the doctor didn't say anything about it, so I guess I shouldn't be concerned. I'm now up 23 pounds from the lowest point that I was after all my morning sickness and whatnot. But I am only up 3 pounds from my prepregnancy weight! The doctor originally said she wanted me to only gain 15 pounds, but now they aren't saying anything, probably because I had lost 20 in my first trimester. As of today we have 74 days to go til April 11th, which means only 30 days til my sister-in-laws due date!!!!!!!! I can't wait to be an aunt AND a mom!!! |
